About My Home & Neighborhood
What features of the home have you really enjoyed?
My husband has meticulously hand-built every piece of trim, crown moulding, chair moulding, wainscoting, cornice boards and the entire piece above the mantle. Our vintage inspired home provides a cozy, calm environment. We have put a lot of time and love into creating a sort of natural sanctuary, and our favorite spot is relaxing in the screened porch every morning over coffee, listening to the bubbling brook we installed, viewing the beautiful azaleas and hydrangeas in season, and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. We also love how spacious our Master bedroom and bath are, and he even made me a custom bathtub caddy/tray for soaking in our huge garden tub with that glass of wine! It’s great to be on the opposite side of the house from the guest rooms, perfect for giving guests privacy or getting a little “space” from your kids!
What can you tell us about your neighborhood?
Our neighborhood is quiet and we have wonderful neighbors. We are minutes from great shopping, beautiful parks, historical sites and most importantly...the beach!
What do you love about your town?
We enjoy golfing and there are plenty of courses to be found nearby like Bulls Bay or Dunes West. The things we love about Mount Pleasant is that we are close to the beaches. There's also a large selection of restaurants and shopping is better than any other area in the Lowcountry.
Grocery stores and other conveniences?
Belle Hall Shopping Center has everything you need from groceries, drugs stores, eateries, hair salons, day spa's and gift shops. This location is great because there are 3 wonderful grocery stores nearby. We are Harris Teeter fans and there is one just a few miles south on Hwy 17 as well as one just a few miles up on Hwy 41. There is also a nice Publix just a few miles north on Hwy 17 as well. There is a Walgreens nearby that is super convenient. A super Walmart is also just a few miles up the road and everyone is excited for the new Lowes Foods and Costco coming soon!
Where are your favorite places to eat?
If you would like a good steak, we enjoy Graves Restaurant. Hands down the best steak we've had in the Charleston area. Pier 41 is wonderful, with great happy hour prices...$1 champagne! You can't beat eating with a water view and Wando River Grill or Tavern... especially fun to get a dolphin sighting on Shem Creek! Sol has a fantastic southwest brunch menu, Ardoa is so much fun for wine tastings paired with fabulous charcuterie, and Red Drum can always be counted on for a fine dinner out.
What are your favorite things to do in the area?
Besides the numerous golf courses around town, our area is great for active people who love to bike, run, or walk everywhere. Besides neighboring historical Boone Hill Plantation, we are minutes from Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms and great shopping. It truly is the perfect location. We also have easy access to all of the major highways.
Our electric company is SCE&G and the average charge per month is around $160. Water and sewer are with Mt. Pleasant Water Works. The average charge is $62 per month. The gas for the fireplace is through Blue Flame. There is a rental fee of $37 every six months. The rental of the propane tank is transferable and there is also the option of purchasing the tank.
Flood Insurance, Termite Bond or HOA info?
Our Homeowners Association is managed by RD Neal Management and the yearly dues are $450.
We are not in a flood zone, so we do not have a flood insurance policy. We do have a termite bond with Lightning Termite which is transferable and runs about $190 a year. Their number is 843-569-0374.
