Fall Curb Appeal To Sell Your Charleston Home
The nights are getting cooler, and we’re ready to enjoy autumn in the Lowcountry! If you’re ready to list your home, there are few things to keep in mind for your home to look its best for listing pictures and showings:
Start with a clean home! Pressure wash your home and keep windows clean on the inside and out. Be sure to rake leaves frequently and sod or seed any brown spots on your lawn.
Put down fresh pine straw or mulch the day before your listing pictures are taken.
Plant colorful fall plants, such as mums, to add a pop of color to your yard. Potted plants on porches and steps add a polished look too.
Highlight your front door! Making your front door stand out is a good idea all year long. A new coat of paint in a bright color like red draws the eye to the entry to your home. Adding a festive wreath is any easy way to gain attention. Be careful to choose something that is not holiday specific for your listing photos though. It is best not to date your photos with holiday decorations. For showings, keep decorations simple.
Clean gutters and keep them free from debris to protect your home from water damage.
Add outdoor lighting to be sure potential buyers can see your home and have a safe path to your front door. The days are getting shorter, so many evening showings may be in the dark.
If you're local to the Charleston area and you've been thinking about selling your home, now is a great time as we see a traditional slow-down in the seller's market pace. Less competition, but still just as many active buyers looking for just the right home- and it might be yours! Plus, when your home is decorated for the holidays it adds so much more appeal and warmth for home showing traffic!
