New Year New Avondale
The Avondale area continues to grow in popularity and in what it has to offer residents and visitors. The “design district” continues to please with many bars and restaurants within walking distance for residents. If you happen to live further away, it is worth the drive! So, what’s new?
Recently opened Charles Towne Fermentory focuses on the fermentation process and highlights five beers on tap. Although they do not have dining yet, the Fermentory hopes to offer food options in the near future. They are open weekly Tuesday-Thursday 4-11pm, Friday-Saturday 2-11pm, and Sunday 2-10pm.
Opening soon is DB’s Cheesesteaks, which will be in the former Papa Murphy’s Pizza location at 2 Avondale Ave. Danny Bailey’s former Folly Road restaurant closed in 2010 after delighting customers for years. DB’s has not announced an official opening date, but they hope to be serving up their cheesesteaks, burgers, and fries early this year!
Along with these exciting new establishments, our other Avondale favorites are still going strong!
Wednesdays are Ladies’ Night with $5 glass features and a $5 appetizer
Thursdays are Wine Tastings from 6-8pm for $7 with other Happy Hour specials
One of Charleston’s oldest bars with a vast beer selection. Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Hours are 11:30am-2am Monday through Saturday and 11am to 2am on Sunday.
Avondale’s sports bar offers Happy Hour Monday through Friday until 7pm with $1 off all alcohol. They are open Monday through Wednesday 4pm-2am and Thursday to Sunday 11am to 2am.
Named one of the top beer bars in America in Draft Magazine, Oak Barrel has a large selection of craft beers in addition to wine, sushi, and sake.
A European style café, Gala Desserts has more than just desserts, but that is their specialty. Happy Hour runs daily from 4-7pm with $3 off tapas and $1 off all alcohol. Stop by for a coffee, breakfast, lunch, tapas, or dessert.
Happy Hour from 4-7pm Monday through Friday features a menu with appetizers, raw bar selections, and drink specials.
Every Wednesday, one topping small pizzas are only $5 after 4pm. With salads, appetizers, calzones, and pizzas, Mellow is great for families, friends, or to catch the big game.
A classic Italian restaurant, Al Di La never disappoints. The owners left Italy in the 90s and continue to bring authentic flavors to Avondale. Enjoy lunch or dinner or grab a delicious cocktail in the bar.
Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, Triangle is known for their burgers and tacos with an expansive beer board. Each day, starting at 5pm, a different special is featured, such as $5 burgers on Mondays or $3 tacos, margaritas, Coronas, and mojitos on Tuesdays.
